Sweeney Todd Controversy

This is a video I made to explain the Sweeney Todd controversy on youtube

Background information: I have spent quite some time on youtube watching videos of Sweeney Todd (both movie and stage productions) and have noticed that too many people like to compare the two (stage vs. movie versions) as if they were the same thing. Personally, I think this is absolutely ridiculous. I am not asking anyone to like or hate either version, I am just stating my view on this topic and hopefully educating a few people as well. I just want people to stop being so ignorant and learn to recognize the differences between the two mediums of entertainment (for example, I myself prefer the movie version of Sweeney, but I recognize the difference between movie and stage productions and I can appreciate the skill involved in stage productions). This vid is self explanatory. Im getting SICK and tired of reading debating comments between youtubers of who the "best" Sweeney is. NO this is NOT just a rant video of trying to find happy medium between the two
With this video i hope to get people to recognize that they are comparing two totally different things as if they are the same
Yes, Sweeney Todd is Sweeney Todd...meaning, it is the same musical being used, but it is a matter of comparing Film vs Stage that people fail to recognize that both are two totally different mediums of entertainment and each has their own requirements. so watch the vid. read it. maybe you will learn something. Or you can just continue to be ignorant. Your choice. No one is forcing you to change your point of view, i just hope that this will at least improve it and you can learn something



STOP COMPARING STAGE PRODUCTIONS OF SWEENEY TODD TO THE MOVIE! PLEASE!!!! They are two totally different things, It is a known fact that Johnny Depp's voice (altho it is amazing) it is not quite strong enough for a stage Sweeney, and nor is Helenas. But i am getting sick of reading comments of people fighting over who is the "best" Sweeney. You really cannot compare the two as they are done through two totally different mediums. Film and Stage
On stage there is more need for exaggeration, stronger voices, more acting and showing of emotion, while on film it is easier to get the message across because directors can choose different camera angles and editing which aids in the conveying of emotion. As for singing, a stage Sweeney or Lovett voice and acting would be too much for film as the audience is much closer in film than in a stage production, Sweeney in the movie would be too underplayed to be satisfactory on stage. So as you can see the differences in stage and movie productions of Sweeney are vast, so please. STOP COMPARING THE TWO AS IF THEY ARE THE SAME! ITS REALLY STARTING TO PISS ME OFF
